The most common reason is that the credit bureau is not able to identify your unique credit file. This could be because you don't yet have established credit or because your personal information may differ from TransUnion's records. For the best chance of success, make sure that all of your information, including your first and last name, date of birth, mailing address and social security number is entered correctly. If you might established credit under a different name variation you might want to try entering your name that way. If you have two first or last names run the names together with no spaces.
If you continue to experience difficulty, it might be a good idea to get your free TransUnion annual credit report from AnnualCreditReport.com and review the personal information on your credit report. If you find any discrepancies you can file a dispute with TransUnion to clean up that inaccurate information.
Other possible reasons for registration difficulty:
- You already have a Credit Sesame account and you are trying to create a new account with a different email address. Go to "SSN in Use" article.
- You have a thin credit file and credit bureau does not have adequate information to formulate the authentication questions that are required prior to registration
- You mailing address is not properly formatted (check US Post Office)
- Your social security number was recently issued
- You recently changed your name or have credit established under your maiden name
- Your personal information is being matched to more than one credit file
- You are being blocked for security reasons by TransUnion because you've attempted authentication more than 5 times on other sites and Credit Sesame.
