Not all bills and payments are reported to credit bureaus, which can sometimes be surprising.
Commonly Reported Accounts
The following types of accounts are typically included on your credit report:
- Credit cards and charge cards
- Installment loans
- Mortgages (home loans)
- Auto loans
- Collection accounts
In addition, certain public record items may also appear, such as bankruptcies and tax liens.
Commonly Unreported Bills
Many everyday expenses are usually not reported to credit bureaus, including:
- Rent payments
- Utility bills
- Mobile phone bills
- Payday loans
Because these accounts are generally not reported, making on-time payments for them may not help you build credit.
