I'm using what stimulus I did receive as sparingly as I can but having two children one and nine and only getting the money for one of the kids has been difficult since I am out of work due to the virus but unable to collect unemployment because I was a babysitter which means I was self-employed when the woman I worked for got laid off because of covid-19 I did as well. I'm spending as little as possible and trying to make everything count but I am fearful of the near future

Always to be financially wise, especially during this pandemic. Seek for professional advice like @creditseasme. I always join their chat on Thursday and got some really good insights from them. Life is not easy and something it is not going well with what we plan. We are fortunate to be taught and saved up some emergency fund.

I am a college student and works for full time before COVID19 hit. It does bother me when I lost my income. But I have learned to budget and keep my current credit score by prioritizing my bills. Of course, you need to be patient and positive as well. Just need to distinguish between a want and a need.

Trish, it’s nice to hear that you are managing your Stimulus payment as best you can. We do recommend you looking into the Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) program that the CARES Act has established for individuals who normally wouldn’t qualify for regular unemployment. While we are not certain that you qualify, it doesn't hurt to check eligibility since PUA is administered by the states, but is federally funded and subject to federal guidelines. We hope this helps.

That is a great question Leslie. As many on this chain have mentioned, reducing your spend to just essential items at this time is a great starting point and this article that we have written has some insight into ways you can prioritize your expenses. Another useful tool to help you with your financial planning is this budget calculator. This tool can help you understand how much you would need per week/month in income to cover all essential expenses. These are definitely unsettling times but with the right focus, tools, and execution, you can plan your finances accordingly to reduce any tension you may have. Was this helpful?

The great thing about having travel money is that it can still be considered travel money for future trips. That is, if it’s not required to be used as emergency funds during these trying times. If not required for emergency funds why not make your vacation money work for you in the meantime? Since you have already accounted for those funds as spent, why not consider putting those funds into a Certificate of Deposit (“CD”) account that makes you money while you wait for the next opportunity to go on a vacation? Here is some information on CDs and what they are. Let us know your thoughts.

Hi Daniel, I was announced as a winner on May 1st. I haven't seen an email come through yet with the Amazon gift card. I have even been checking my spam folder. Have the winning emails been sent around yet? If so, any chance you could re-forward mine? If not, any idea when we can expect them?
Thanks,
Adam Scott
